I know C++, but im now trying to get into web applications and websites, so Im trying to use PHP and mySQL and all that good stuff. I'm sure this can be done with other tools (like pstools, etc) but I'd prefer to do it with the stock XP commands, as I'll have to implement this on about 100 PC's and the shorter the process the better.Hello all, I am new here. In short, I need a batch file that will open outlook and close the CMD window. I've also tried adding a taskkill command to kill cmd.exe but nothing after the opening of outlook is getting called. With the command above, outlook will open, but the CMD window stays open, and the exit command is never called. The 'exit' command isn't doing anything either. I know that when start is used by itself it will do that, but it's not recognizing the path to the executable I want to open. I've tried using the 'start' command at the beginning of the path to outlook.exe but for some reason it won't open outlook, and just opens a new cmd window. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\outlook.exe" This is so that we can copy the PST files to our fileserver (as sometimes when outlook is open the files are locked.) The second batch file just calls to reopen outlook.
Before the backup, a batch file is called to close outlook.exe through a taskkill command.
I have two batch files running around our backup software. For some reason, I can't get the command prompt window to close itself after a simple command.
